description of item

Small light made by Lucas (full title) for use as an indicator repeater or glove box light. The glass lens was also used in the L516 ‘torpedo’ light fitting. The light lens measures 2.54 cm (1in) at its base and 2.79cm (1.1in) including the fitting lip and is 1.65mm (0.65in) tall. There are two main bezel varients as shown in the images; the wrap around version appears to have been used in Supercar. The Lucas Master Parts Catalogue 1945 - 1960 can be found here and is a valuable reference when searching for Anderson parts; CD versions are also available on ebay.

Lucas L550 Glove Box Light

where it appears

This was the light fitting used for Supercar’s headlights.

modern sources/alternatives

Modern reporductions are easily available and fairly cheap but all that I have seen come with the ‘surface mount’ bezel, rather than the ‘wrap around’ one that I believe was used on Supercar.

Scans and Makes

I have scanned an original lens and reversed engineered it in Cinema 4D to produce the model shown above.
